FIFA President Gianni Infantino said he will "personally bring a hot dog and a Coke" to anyone who buys a World Cup final ticket for $2 million.

Ticket prices for this summer's tournament have drawn sharp criticism. Infantino joked that if a ticket sells for that amount, he would make the delivery himself to ensure the buyer "has a great experience."

Tickets for the tournament have appeared on FIFA's resale platform at five-figure prices. Last month, four seats behind the goal for the New Jersey final listed for just under $2.3 million ($1.693 million) each.

"If some people put on the resale market some tickets for the final at $2m, number one, it doesn't mean that the tickets cost $2m, and number two, it doesn't mean that somebody will buy these tickets," Infantino said.

Infantino has defended the tournament prices as consistent with other U.S. sporting events.

"In the US, it is permitted to resell tickets as well, so if you were to sell tickets at the price which is too low, these tickets will be resold at a much higher price," he said Tuesday at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Beverly Hills.

"And as a matter of fact, even though some people are saying that the ticket prices we have are high, they still end up on the resale market at an even higher price, more than double our price."

He added that 25% of group stage tickets sell for less than $300, comparable to a college game in the U.S. "And this is the World Cup," Infantino said.
