Fever coach Stephanie White draws criticism for response to Caitlin Clark's late heroics
Caitlin Clark hit five three-pointers in the fourth quarter, including a game-tying shot with 1.7 seconds left, to force overtime against the Washington Mystics on Friday night.
Clark finished with 32 points and seven three-pointers, including 17 points in the fourth quarter. The Fever lost in overtime.
After the game, Fever coach Stephanie White was asked about Clark's late performance. "I thought our whole group showed resilience in that rally," White said. "We showed the ability to make tough shots. We had some really good time and execution moments, offensively and defensively. We just have to have more of it consistently."
Fans on social media accused White of downplaying Clark's effort and ignoring her contributions. Some claimed the coach has never liked Clark.
White has faced previous criticism for comments about officiating that led to a fine. Clark shot 10 of 28 from the field overall.
