An unidentified man came close to jumping from the upper deck railing at Wednesday's Brewers-Cardinals game in St. Louis when fans intervened at the last second.

Video of the incident went viral Wednesday night. It shows the man dangling off the ledge in what appeared to be the 200s section at Busch Stadium for reasons unknown. The clip, recorded by a fan from below, lasts 20 seconds.

Fans notice the situation about five seconds in. Another man then approaches from behind, grabs him and tackles him into the seats.

Police described a similar incident last season at PNC Park, where a Pittsburgh Pirates fan fell 20 feet onto the field. That fan, who was under 21, had been drinking, and another man faced charges for furnishing alcohol to a minor.

No details emerged on whether alcohol played a role in the St. Louis case. Such stadium incidents appear to be occurring more often.

The fans who acted deserve credit. Instead of just recording with their phones, they stepped in and stopped what could have turned into a fatal fall.

The Cardinals lost the game, 6-2.
