Costco's New Oversized Chicken Tenders Spark Mixed Online Reactions
Costco has introduced oversized chicken tenders at select U.S. locations, prompting mixed reactions from online shoppers after a TikTok video went viral.
The video, filmed at a Costco in Schaumburg, Illinois, shows a five-piece order priced at $6.99 and totaling 1,640 calories. It has racked up thousands of views, with users commenting on the portion size and high calorie count.
Some customers noted the tenders may be replacing the calzone at certain stores. It remains unclear how widely they are available or if Costco plans a nationwide rollout.
Chicken tenders are not new to Costco overseas. The item has appeared at locations in Canada and Australia in recent years, according to food publication TastingTable.
The meal features several large tenders served with dipping sauce. Online buzz has grown as customers share photos on social media.
Reactions vary. One user asked, "What did they get rid of? The calzone?" Others focused on the calories, with some speculating the dipping sauce accounts for much of the 1,640 total.
Not all feedback was negative. "Those look amazing," one user wrote. Others expressed interest in trying the tenders if they reach more stores.
Fox News Digital reached out to Costco for comment.
Costco recently reintroduced churros in a new format as a caramel churro sundae with smaller churro pieces on top. That change also drew mixed responses, with some longtime customers preferring the original full-size version and others noting the retailer often rotates food court items based on demand.
