Apple Agrees to $250 Million Settlement in Siri Marketing Lawsuit

Apple has agreed to a $250 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit accusing the company of misleading customers about Apple Intelligence and Siri features.

The case focuses on the iPhone 16 launch and certain iPhone 15 models marketed as ready for Apple's AI upgrades. The settlement requires court approval, and Apple denies any wrongdoing.

Plaintiffs claimed Apple promoted a smarter, more personal Siri capable of understanding context, working across apps and assisting with daily tasks. The marketing suggested these features would arrive with the iPhone 16 or soon after. Instead, buyers got phones with some Apple Intelligence tools but not the full Siri improvements many anticipated.

Apple introduced Apple Intelligence in June 2024 as a major advance for iPhone, iPad and Mac. The lawsuit argues consumers bought or upgraded devices based on promises of unavailable AI capabilities. Apple maintains it has delivered many Apple Intelligence features and settled to focus on its products.

The settlement fund stands at $250 million. Eligible claimants can expect at least $25 per device, potentially up to $95 depending on the number of claims and other factors.

Covered devices include all iPhone 16 models — iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16e — plus iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Purchases must have occurred in the United States between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025.

No action is needed yet. Once approved, eligible buyers should receive notices by email or mail with instructions for filing claims via a settlement website. Official notices will not request Apple ID passwords, bank details or payments.

Apple did not respond to requests for comment before deadline.
