United Airlines Jet Clips Truck, Streetlight Before Landing at Newark Airport
A truck driver suffered minor injuries when a United Airlines plane clipped his vehicle and a streetlight while approaching Newark Airport in New Jersey on Sunday.
The Boeing 767, on a flight from Venice, Italy, landed safely. None of the 231 passengers and crew on board reported injuries.
One of the plane's tires went through the truck's window and windscreen, the driver's employers told CBS News, the BBC's US news partner.
Dash camera footage from the truck captured the sound of a low-flying plane. It showed the impact, which sent glass flying everywhere. The driver received treatment for cuts from glass in his arm and hand.
United Airlines issued a statement saying it would "conduct a rigorous flight safety investigation into the incident and our crew has been removed from service as part of this process".
New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill said she is "grateful the aircraft landed safely, and all passengers and crew are unharmed".
