After last week's warmth, the first full week of May will bring falling temperatures across the UK.

Temps peaked around 25C (77F) in parts of England on Friday, but this week will feel noticeably cooler. Forecasters predict mixed conditions for the May Bank Holiday.

Scotland opens with frost before a weather front delivers rain to the far north. Conditions brighten elsewhere, with springlike warmth in the sun from the strengthening May rays.

Northern Ireland stays mostly dry through the day, with warm sunny spells.

In England and Wales, early patchy fog clears fast, but cloudier skies take over by afternoon. Sun breaks in northern areas will make it feel warmer than Sunday.

Further south, sunshine stays limited, and lively showers could pop up, possibly with isolated thunder.

Monday night turns fresher, with ground frost possible, especially in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Showers ease for most places, though lingering ones atop the highest Munros might fall as snow.

Tuesday starts chilly, with early fog lifting to sunny spells and scattered showers, most frequent over Scotland, northern England, the Midlands and Wales.

Wednesday brings a colder start and more widespread patchy ground frost. A gentle northerly flow makes it the week's coolest day, though sunny periods mix with occasional slow-moving downpours.
