Tuberville Wins Alabama GOP Nomination for Governor
Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville won the GOP nomination for Alabama governor on Tuesday.
Tuberville defeated insurance agency owner Ken McFeeters and small business owner Will Santivasci. The race was to succeed term-limited Republican Gov. Kay Ivey in the solidly Republican state.
Tuberville, who coached Auburn University football for 10 years, was elected to the Senate in 2020. He ran as an outsider aligned with President Donald Trump.
Trump posted his support for Tuberville on social media the day before the primary. "He is a Lifelong Leader, both on and off the field — A true WINNER!" the president wrote.
