President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping concluded their summit in Beijing on Friday with a bilateral tea session and friendship photo before Trump departed for Washington.

The two leaders held a closed-door meeting on Thursday that lasted about two hours and 15 minutes. Trump described the session as "great."

Speaking to Fox News after the formal meeting Thursday, Trump said Xi told him China would not supply any military equipment to Iran, calling it a "big statement." Trump added that Xi wants to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which has been effectively closed. China remains Iran's largest oil customer.

Chinese state media reported that Xi warned Trump of possible "clashes and even conflicts" if the Taiwan issue is not "handled properly." The U.S. readout of the meeting made no mention of Taiwan. Trump and Xi ignored reporters' questions on the topic.

China considers Taiwan central to its interests and has vowed to retake the island, refusing to rule out military force. The U.S. opposes any unilateral change to Taiwan's status and has provided billions in military support, though it stops short of stating whether it would defend Taiwan against a Chinese invasion.

A regional source told CBS News' Margaret Brennan that China raised Taiwan during Thursday's talks. The U.S. acknowledged Beijing's position, restated Washington's view, and moved to the next topic. A senior administration official told CBS News' Sara Cook that both sides restated their longstanding positions and understand each other.

The countries also seek to stabilize economic ties after last year's trade war, when tariffs exceeded 100%. Details on a comprehensive trade deal remain unclear, but the Trump administration wants Chinese purchases of U.S. goods and continued access to Chinese rare earth minerals. Trump told Fox News that China agreed to buy Boeing jets and U.S. soybeans.

Top business executives accompanied Trump. Elon Musk called the meetings "wonderful" and said they achieved "many good things." Apple's Tim Cook gave reporters a thumbs-up sign.

Xi hosted Trump with an elaborate state visit, including a state dinner featuring an instrumental version of "YMCA," one of Trump's favorite songs. Trump invited Xi and his wife to the White House on Sept. 24.

Trump does not plan a press conference before leaving Beijing, though he might take questions on his plane. He had intended to visit China earlier this spring but postponed due to the war with Iran.
