TikTok Influencer and Father Arrested in Alleged Murder-for-Hire Plot

TikTok influencer Gabriela Lauren Gonzalez, 25, was arrested in California on charges of conspiring to kill her ex-boyfriend, former boy band member Jack Avery. Her father, 59-year-old civil lawyer Francisco Gonzalez, was arrested in Central Florida. Her then-boyfriend, Kai Faron Codrey, was also charged.

The three face accusations tied to a custody battle over the couple's 7-year-old daughter. Detectives said the dispute had been longstanding and tense, and that Francisco Gonzalez had hired a private investigator to gather evidence against Avery.

Authorities allege that between 2020 and 2021, Gabriela Gonzalez asked Codrey to find a hitman on the dark web. Francisco Gonzalez is accused of paying Codrey a total of $14,000 to arrange the killing.

Codrey contacted an undercover officer posing as a hitman. According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Codrey told the officer that Avery was the target and discussed payment and proof of death. In a later conversation, Codrey allegedly said Gabriela Gonzalez wanted the murder to happen and that Francisco Gonzalez could pay.

If convicted, the three face 25 years to life in state prison.
