Swingers Overrun France's Cap d'Agde Nudist Resort, Locals Say
Swingers have taken over the world's largest nudist resort at Cap d'Agde in southern France, locals say. The clothing-optional village now attracts tens of thousands of guests each peak season, but many are hedonistic "lifestyle visitors" who engage in sex acts along a beach where anything goes.
The Sun reports a shift from the original naturist crowd. British visitor Barbara, who came to the village with her husband around 30 years ago and still visits in summer, said the clientele has changed massively since international swingers discovered the spot. She estimates the nudist-to-swinger ratio at 60 to 40 percent.
"It’s made the place far more exclusive, creating a clear separation between the original naturist crowd and the new generation of lifestyle visitors," Barbara told the outlet.
Reporter William J. Furney described a typical scene: a woman with long, gray hair lay flat on her back with a portly man on top of her. The sight triggered an immediate reaction among naked men nearby who seemed to watch for such action.
Tensions once boiled over around 2008, when swingers' clubs were burned down. Those days are gone. Barbara said the two sides now live in harmony, though they mostly do their own thing. Nudists stay away from areas where swingers risk jail and fines for public sex.
