A passenger on a Delta flight from Atlanta to Chicago yanked open the plane's emergency door last week after a lengthy tarmac delay, according to a video posted on Reddit that went viral.

The Reddit user who shared the video at the end of April said storms in the Southeast caused the 168-passenger plane to sit on the tarmac for some time. The incident occurred on a flight bound for Chicago.

A Delta spokesperson told Fox News Digital that law enforcement removed the unruly passenger. "The safety of our customers and crew comes before all else, and Delta has zero tolerance for unruly behavior," the spokesperson said. "We apologize to our customers on this flight for the delay in their travels."

In the video, the man argues with flight attendants about a three- or four-hour delay, with more time ahead. "Get me to the gate, I want off!" he says. "Or I'll take myself off."

He then pulls open the door. An attendant exclaims, "Oh my God."

"'Oh my God!' Who are you?" the man replies. "It doesn't matter, exactly. You know who matters? Me. I told you idiots."

The pilot announces over the intercom that the aircraft will return to the gate. "Good idea!" the man responds before the video ends.

The Reddit poster said airport police or air marshals met the plane at the gate. "There was a scuffle, he threw his luggage at a flight attendant — and was arrested," the user wrote.

Commenters on Reddit condemned the man's actions but some expressed sympathy for the delay. "I don't agree with what he did, but I can understand it," one wrote. "The airline should not be allowed to keep you locked up on a plane that long on the tarmac."

Another said, "As someone who has spent time trapped on an un-airconditioned plane sitting on the tarmac, I have to say that I understand the overwhelming desire to get off."

Fox News Digital reached out to the Atlanta Police Department for more details.
