Nine people have been killed and at least 28 injured in the latest Russian drone attacks across Ukraine, local officials said.

The central Dnipropetrovsk region suffered the most damage, with eight people killed and 11 injured throughout Tuesday. One casualty occurred in the eastern Donetsk region. Overall, 14 regions came under attack.

On Wednesday morning, President Volodymyr Zelensky said more than 100 Russian drones were over Ukraine at that time, warning of more waves of attacks through the day.

Russian officials reported that Ukrainian drones struck a gas processing plant and two other industrial facilities in three regions overnight. No casualties resulted from those strikes.

The attacks followed the expiration of a three-day US-brokered ceasefire late Monday. Both Russia and Ukraine reported multiple violations along the frontline during the truce, but no major aerial operations.

Dnipropetrovsk regional head Oleksandr Hanzha posted on Telegram Wednesday morning that more than 30 Russian attacks hit three districts Tuesday. He said two people died in Zelensky's hometown of Kryvyi Rih and six others in the Synelnykove district southeast of the regional capital Dnipro.

In the northeastern Kharkiv region, five people were injured and several residential houses damaged.

Drone strikes also hit the southern Odesa, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, along with central Poltava.

Zelensky wrote on Telegram Wednesday morning that 14 regions faced attacks Tuesday, with more strikes overnight.

Ukraine's air force reported in its latest update Wednesday that Russia launched 139 drones in the past 24 hours. It said 111 were shot down or intercepted, though 20 direct hits occurred in 13 locations.

The Russian defence ministry said it intercepted 286 Ukrainian drones since Tuesday evening over 14 regions and Crimea, the southern peninsula annexed by Moscow in 2014.

In the southern Astrakhan region, Governor Igor Babushkin said falling drone debris sparked a fire at a gas processing plant in the regional capital overnight.
