Museum Gets Traffic Ticket for Knight Rider Replica Car
A car museum outside Chicago received a speeding ticket for a replica of KITT, the talking Pontiac Firebird from the 1980s series Knight Rider.
The Volo Museum displays the replica, which has never left the building. Yet New York City sent the museum a ticket claiming the car was caught traveling 36 mph in a 25 mph zone in Brooklyn.
The ticket included a photo of a black Trans-Am with the California plate KNIGHT, the same plate used on the television show and on the museum's car.
Museum marketing director Jim Wojdyla said the staff cannot explain how the replica became linked to the ticket. He noted that the car has never left Illinois.
The same Trans-Am has been tied to five other unpaid tickets in New York City. The museum has requested a hearing to contest the citation.
