Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner accused of infidelity and changing story on Nazi tattoo
A day after Graham Platner won the Democratic nomination for Senate in Maine, a woman posted on X that she briefly dated him in 2021 and accused him of infidelity and giving her a different explanation for his Totenkopf tattoo than the one he has offered publicly.
The woman, who posts under the handle 420mercymain69, wrote that she met Platner on Tinder in February 2021 and dated him until mid-July. She said she was drawn to his profile because he was "hot and he was a leftist."
She said that when she asked about the Totenkopf tattoo, a symbol used by the Nazi SS, Platner told her he got it without knowing its meaning but kept it as a reminder that the United States had been "the bad guys" in many parts of the world. She called the account "a sob story of monumental proportions."
When the tattoo became public late last year, Platner said he had not known of its Nazi associations. A campaign spokesperson said he chose the design in Croatia to mark his survival of Ramadi and the deaths of friends there, and that he has since covered the tattoo.
The woman also accused Platner of cheating. She said she learned from a mutual friend that he was seeing another woman while they were dating. After the relationship ended, she said she was told he had been engaged to a woman named Jen when they met and that he had been caught having sex with a third woman at a wedding in Washington, D.C.
"I am stepping forward as a person who has experienced lying and manipulation by his hand to lend my voice to what is a growing number of women who have been wronged by this man in one way or another," she wrote.
Platner became the Democratic nominee earlier this week and will face Republican Sen. Susan Collins in November. The New York Post reported the woman's account. Fox News Digital could not independently confirm her claims.
The woman said she did not intend to derail the campaign but questioned Platner's character. "If I were a Maine voter seeing the things I'm seeing, I wouldn't have voted for him," she wrote.
