For almost the half century the columnist has lived on Earth, experts, teachers, politicians and activists warned that climate change would destroy the planet. This week, though, The New York Times provided evidence that climate alarmism is cooling down.

"Democrats Do Not Have To Campaign On Climate Change Anymore," said the headline as author Matt Huber argued voters are turned off by the subject. The columnist called it the single most expensive lie in human history.

In elementary school, warnings focused on a coming ice age. By high school, it was global warming minutes away from ending humanity. As an adult, with warming failing to occur, the term shifted to "climate change" for the inevitable apocalypse.

In 2018, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., said there were 12 years left to fix the climate or everyone would die. Governments and businesses spent trillions to hold back the weather, but every alarmist prediction failed.

Miami is not underwater.

Climate alarmism not only cost money but blocked other actions. Gas prices would be lower today with more oil drilling instead of a rush to electric cars.

Almost everything in daily life grew more expensive due to climate policies. Generations of youth faced terror akin to nuclear bomb drills, believing they might be the last humans.

Reports show young adults avoiding children over climate fears. The columnist called that ridiculous compared to reasons like travel sports.

After 50 years of hysteria, The New York Times now downplays the issue. Even Greta Thunberg shifted from climate activism to radical Islam, trading Birkenstocks for a keffiyeh.

Climate alarmism had a historic run as an apocalyptic hoax, outlasting 1960s overpopulation fears fueled by Al Gore's predictions.

Everyone wants to protect nature and avoid littering. But gestures like melting paper straws or cars that shut off every 10 seconds are expensive and meaningless.

The climate debate pits love for nature against humanity, since cheap energy lifts people from poverty but harms the climate agenda.

For the secular Left, it became religious, with taxes as tithing and slogans as prayers. Skeptics were deemed bad people.

American climate policy never made sense. The U.S. cuts emissions while other nations emit heavily.

The columnist agreed with The New York Times: the madness should end. Americans see through left-wing claims that the end is nigh and reject saddling children with climate damage.
