Former Congressman Barney Frank Dies at 86
Former U.S. congressman Barney Frank died Tuesday night at age 86, according to U.S. media reports.
Frank represented southern Massachusetts in the House of Representatives for more than three decades. He had been living in hospice care at his home in Maine since April.
He was known for his work on financial regulation after the 2008 crisis and for his role as an early openly gay member of Congress. Frank was the first member of Congress to enter into a same-sex marriage.
"He was, above all else, a wonderful brother. I was lucky to be his sister," his sister Doris Breay told NBC Boston.
