Driver Plows into Pedestrians in Leipzig, Killing Two
A driver plowed into people in the center of the German city of Leipzig on Monday, killing two people, police said.
Another two people suffered serious injuries, a city spokesperson said, according to German news agency dpa.
The incident occurred on Grimmaische Strasse, a street that leads into central Leipzig's shopping area. Police stopped the car and its driver, and it no longer poses any danger, according to a statement on the Leipzig city website.
Leipzig lies southwest of Berlin and has more than 630,000 inhabitants, making it one of the biggest cities in eastern Germany.
