Clippers pitcher Pedro Avila humps mound after fielding liner in Iowa Cubs game

A minor league pitcher delivered an unusual celebration after fielding a line drive during Thursday's game between the Iowa Cubs and Columbus Clippers.

The Iowa Cubs, Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, hosted the Columbus Clippers, affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians. Cubs infielder Owen Miller faced Clippers right-hander Pedro Avila with one strike and two balls. Miller swung and hit a low, soft line drive to Avila's left. Avila made an impressive grab for the third out of the inning.

Avila marked the play by gyrating on the pitcher's mound in a move that resembled humping the turf. The display drew attention from the crowd, including children.

The ballpark announcer noted that Avila was 'entertaining the children in attendance with some gyrations.' The Columbus Clippers' social media account appeared at a loss for words after the moment.

The Iowa Cubs posted on X asking 'y'all good?' in reference to Avila's celebration. Teammates on the Clippers likely will not let Avila forget the wild display anytime soon.
