California ex-mayor Eileen Wang who pleaded guilty as Chinese agent donated to Rep. Judy Chu and Democrats
Eileen Wang, the former mayor of Arcadia, California, agreed to plead guilty to acting as an illegal agent of the People's Republic of China. The Justice Department announced the development this week. Wang faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine. A federal judge will determine her sentence.
Federal prosecutors said Wang acted at the direction and control of Chinese government officials from at least 2020 through 2022. She coordinated with individuals in the U.S. to spread pro-Beijing messaging without notifying the U.S. Attorney General as required by law. The conduct took place before Wang joined the Arcadia City Council in December 2022. She has since resigned as mayor.
Federal Election Commission filings show an Eileen Wang of Arcadia donated $1,000 and $175 to Rep. Judy Chu, D-Calif., in October and November 2022. Fox News Digital reviewed the records. Chu serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means and the Committee on Budget.
FEC filings also list several $5, $10 and $25 donations from Wang to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee via ActBlue in 2024.
A 2024 press release from Chu's office named Wang a Congressional Woman of the Year. It described her as a dedicated Arcadia resident, educator and community leader who brings experience and passion to her City Council role. The release noted her 15 years of involvement in city and service groups, including the Arcadia High School Chinese Parents Booster Club. It said she gained insights into local challenges and is set to make a lasting impact.
Bernadette Breslin, spokesperson for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, called the donations evidence of malign Chinese influence in Democratic ranks. She told Fox News Digital that Senate Republicans are holding Democrats accountable for the influence and CCP-linked money in their campaigns. Breslin added that as President Trump brings American peace through strength to China this week, Republicans are working to root out foreign interference in elections and protect national security.
Sen. Jim Banks, R-Ind., an NRSC vice chair, posted on X: "Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) had a Chinese spy in her office. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) dated a Chinese spy. Mayor Eileen Wang (D-CA) is a Chinese spy. How many more?"
Libs of TikTok posted on X about the DSCC donations, saying Democrat senators are being funded by Chinese spies and that it would be front-page news if reversed. The account also noted Chu's roles on the Ways and Means Committee and Taiwan Caucus, questioning the funding.
Another X user, Greg, called Democrats tools for the Chinese Communist Party and said a confessed CCP agent funneled money to Democratic senators with no response.
Fox News Digital reached out to Chu, the DSCC and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee for comment.
