Body of Missing Florida Hiker Found in Montana's Glacier National Park After Apparent Bear Attack
Search and rescue crews found the body of a hiker reported missing in Glacier National Park in Montana, park officials said Thursday.
The remains turned up Wednesday about two-and-a-half miles up the Mt. Brown Trail, roughly 50 feet off the path in a densely wooded area with downed timber, the officials said.
"His injuries are consistent with those sustained by a bear encounter," they said. Wildlife and law enforcement personnel are assessing the area for bear activity and public safety concerns. The investigation continues.
That section of the trail is closed until the probe wraps up.
The National Park Service is withholding the victim's name until three days after notifying next-of-kin.
The service announced Tuesday it was searching for a Fort Lauderdale, Florida, man who went hiking and had not been heard from since Sunday night.
