Aaron Rodgers Says 2025 Season Will Be His Last
Aaron Rodgers said he will retire after the 2025 season.
The 42-year-old quarterback told reporters on Wednesday that this will be his final year in the NFL. He agreed last week to return for a 22nd season, this time with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Rodgers has already secured his place among the league's top passers. He ranks fourth all-time with 527 touchdown passes and fifth with 66,274 passing yards. Only Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Peyton Manning have thrown more touchdown passes. Rodgers could pass Manning's total of 539 this season and move into third place.
He is also a Super Bowl champion and a four-time NFL MVP. Only Manning, with five MVP awards, has more.
Rodgers has said in the past that he would walk away when he chose. Some observers doubt he will stick to that plan, given his history of changing his mind. Others see the decision as a natural end for a player who will turn 43 in December.
Rodgers said he knows when it is time to leave the game.
