USMNT Opens World Cup Campaign Against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium

The United States men's national team opens its World Cup campaign Friday night against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

It is the team's first World Cup match on home soil since 1994. Fans began arriving in the afternoon to watch the Americans play on home ground.

The squad traveled in two stages. Buses first took the players from their training base at Great Park Sports Complex in Irvine to a Los Angeles hotel, then carried them to the stadium.

The team posted a video of the trip before the match. The United States enters the game at +107 odds, according to FOX Sports, after a 2-1 friendly loss to Germany last week at Soldier Field in Chicago.

Paraguay arrives after a 4-0 win over Nicaragua in its final warm-up match.

New York Rangers and U.S. men's hockey coach Mike Sullivan sent well wishes to coach Mauricio Pochettino and the squad. The U.S. women's national team also offered support ahead of kickoff.

The match is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
