The English national team is still days away from its World Cup opener, but the tournament has already brought trouble. Some of the team's equipment was stolen while it was being moved to the training base in Kansas City.

The Three Lions open against Croatia on Wednesday in Arlington, Texas. Their base for the tournament is Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City. Equipment was supposed to arrive before the players reached the city on Saturday, but vehicles carrying the gear were broken into during the trip from Florida.

Police responded to the theft on Friday night. Footwear was among the items taken, but none of the missing equipment was essential for play.

A Kansas City police spokesman said officers were investigating a possible theft from a team vehicle that arrived with items missing. The investigation continued, and the equipment was later recovered. Two arrests have been made.

England plays Ghana in Boston on June 23 and finishes group play against Panama in New Jersey.
