After the 2026 NBA Finals ended with the Knicks completing a sweep of the San Antonio Spurs, attention turned to Victor Wembanyama and his actions following the loss.

When the final buzzer sounded in Game 5, the 7-foot-4 forward left the court without joining the traditional handshake line and went straight to the locker room.

The move came after earlier criticism during the series. Wembanyama was faulted for a hard foul on Jalen Brunson and was seen on camera laughing toward Mitchell Robinson during a tense exchange.

In his postgame remarks, Wembanyama largely avoided questions about leaving the court without shaking hands.

Draymond Green addressed the decision on an episode of "The Draymond Green Show." The Warriors forward said Wembanyama should have stayed to face the Knicks.

"Look your killer in the face," Green said. "You gotta look them in the face. By the way, if you leave the court and you don't look me in my face and I just beat you, I actually know that I own you forever because you couldn't look me in the face."

Green said the choice gave critics an opening and shifted focus away from the Knicks' title win. Wembanyama, who is viewed by many as a leading young player in the league, now faces questions about how he handles defeat.
